Why The Asus Router Blinking Power Light?

Solution 1: Restart your router

  • In most cases, restarting the router is enough to resolve the power light blinking issue. 
  • Disconnect the power cable from the router.
  • Leave the router disconnected from the power source for a few minutes.
  • Now, reconnect the cable to the router and turn it ON.
  • Check if the power light blinking issue is resolved.
  • If not, perform the next solution.

Solution 2: Run ASUS Rescue Mode utility

  • You can download the Asus Rescue Mode utility file from the official site of Asus.
  • On the official site, click Support > Driver & Tools > OS > Utilities > ASUS Rescue mode utility > Global. Locate the utility file and click Download beside it.
  • Once the utility tool has been downloaded, run the installer to install the utility on your computer.

Solution 3: Change your adapter settings

  • If the above solutions don’t resolve the Asus router blinking power light issue, change the router’s settings.
  • Firstly, connect the router to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
  • Now, open the Control Panel window on your Windows computer.
  • Click Network and Internet > Network Connection > Change adapter settings > LAN.
  • Right-click on the LAN option and select Properties followed by Internet protocol version4(TCP/IPv4).
  • Click Properties. Type the IP address and Subnet mask details correctly and click OK.

Solution 4: Upload firmware

  • First, download the firmware restoration file from the router’s support page.
  • Now, turn off your Asus router if it is turned ON.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the router.
  • Locate and hold down the Reset button for 5 seconds.
  • Following that, reconnect the power cable to the router while holding down the Reset button.
  • Now, go to your computer’s All Programs section and select ASUS Utility.
  • Choose the router name and click Firmware Restoration.
  • Click Upload. Select the downloaded firmware file from the list and click Upload.
