Step 1: Place The Router
Unpack your TP-Link router if you haven’t done it yet.
Now, place the router closer to your network modem.
Make sure to install the antennas properly on your TP-Link router.
Step 2: Physical Setup
As discussed above, this router supports two types of working modes: WISP Client Router and Standard Wireless Router. So, the steps for the physical setup will vary based on the modes. The below section explains both the methods in detail.
Method 1: WISP Client Router Mode
Get an Ethernet cable and using it connect your router to your PC.
Connect the router to an electrical wall socket and turn it ON.
Method 2: Standard Wireless Router
Connect your PC to the router’s LAN port using an Ethernet cable.
Using another Ethernet cable, connect your modem to the Internet port of your TP-Link router.
Connect your router to an electrical wall socket.
Press the Power button on its control panel to turn it ON.
Step 3: Router Settings Using Quick Setup Wizard
Before starting the TP-Link TL-R843ND router setup using Quick Setup Wizard, make sure that you know your router’s default domain name and IP address. Make sure that your PC (Windows or Mac) is connected to the TP-Link router’s network.
Now, open the Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome web browser on your computer.
In the search field of the browser, enter either your router’s domain name or IP address and tap the Enter button on your PC’s keyboard.
In the Login dialog box of your router, type the router’s default user name and password.
Once you reach the router’s web access page, configure the basic network settings. Go to the Working mode section and select WLAN Connection Type > Wireless > Finish.
