Isolate the problem

  • Test more than one device.
  • Check modem or ONT status lights.
  • Restart modem and router in the correct order.
  • Forget and reconnect to Wi-Fi.
  • Check for an internet-provider outage.
  • Restore automatic IP and DNS settings.

If wired devices also have no internet, the issue is likely upstream of Wi-Fi.

Local access and Internet access are different tests

Fix Wi-Fi Connected but No Internet can involve the client-to-router link, the router's management service or the upstream Internet connection. Reaching the admin page does not prove the WAN is online, and browsing the Internet does not guarantee that local administration is enabled.

Use a three-step check

  1. Confirm the client has a valid local address and gateway.
  2. Test access to the gateway or supported app/controller.
  3. Check router WAN status and then DNS.

Temporarily remove VPN or proxy interference when testing local management.

Final verification step

A useful final test is to compare an Internet IP address with a domain name. If an IP works but a name does not, DNS deserves attention. If neither works while the gateway remains reachable, inspect the router WAN and upstream service.
