A missing network name can be caused by a disabled radio, hidden SSID, unsupported band, channel restrictions or a router that has not completed startup.

First checks

  1. Check whether every client or only one client cannot see the network.
  2. Verify that the intended radio and SSID broadcasting are enabled.
  3. Test close to the router and compare 2.4 GHz with 5 or 6 GHz capability.

How to interpret the result

If modern devices see the network but one older device does not, suspect band, channel or security compatibility. If no device sees either band, inspect router status and radio settings. A 6 GHz network will not appear on clients that lack Wi‑Fi 6E or Wi‑Fi 7 support.

What this symptom usually does not prove

Do not assume that increasing transmit power will make an unsupported band visible to an older client.

Escalate with useful evidence

Record which devices are affected, whether Ethernet and Wi‑Fi behave differently, the router or gateway status, and the exact time of the fault. This evidence helps distinguish a local client issue, radio problem, routing policy, upstream service fault or failing hardware.

Before a factory reset

Restart the relevant device first and save any ISP, Wi‑Fi, reservation, port-forwarding or mesh information needed to rebuild the network. A factory reset is a configuration-recovery action, not a universal diagnostic test.
