Use the placement result as a starting hypothesis
The planner cannot see wall materials, neighbouring networks, floor construction or the antennas inside client devices. Test the recommendation with the same client and the same measurement method before and after moving the router.
Placement priorities
- Keep the router open, elevated and away from large metal objects.
- Avoid placing it at the extreme edge of the property.
- For multiple floors, consider the vertical centre or wired access points.
- Place mesh nodes where backhaul remains strong, not only inside the dead zone.
If coverage cannot be corrected by placement, Ethernet-backed access points are often more predictable than increasing transmit power.
Final verification step
After choosing a location, test more than signal bars. Measure latency and throughput in the main rooms, then repeat at a busy time of day. If moving the router improves one room but harms another, the property may need an additional wired access point or correctly placed mesh node.
