First checks
- Identify which LED is red and consult the model's official light table.
- Check the upstream modem, cable or mobile registration if the Internet indicator is affected.
- Allow the device to complete startup before interrupting it.
How to interpret the result
A red Internet light with healthy local Wi‑Fi usually points toward the WAN. A red mesh-node light can indicate weak or missing backhaul. A power/status light stuck in an abnormal state may require documented recovery, but only after normal restart and power checks.
What this symptom usually does not prove
Do not hold the reset button based solely on colour; first identify the LED and its model-specific meaning.
Escalate with useful evidence
Record which devices are affected, whether Ethernet and Wi‑Fi behave differently, the router or gateway status, and the exact time of the fault. This evidence helps distinguish a local client issue, radio problem, routing policy, upstream service fault or failing hardware.
Before a factory reset
Restart the relevant device first and save any ISP, Wi‑Fi, reservation, port-forwarding or mesh information needed to rebuild the network. A factory reset is a configuration-recovery action, not a universal diagnostic test.
