Orbi is a Netgear product family, but it is not interchangeable with Nighthawk Mesh. Orbi systems use an Orbi router model (RBR) and compatible satellite models (RBS); the kit name often begins RBK. Compatibility must be checked before adding a satellite.
What is specific to this product family?
| Setup interface | Orbi app is the primary guided method; supported systems also provide local web management. |
|---|---|
| Hardware roles | RBR identifies the router, RBS the satellite and RBK the packaged system. |
| Sync feedback | Blue generally means a good router-satellite link; amber means fair; magenta means sync failed or no usable backhaul. |
| Factory reset | Official guidance says hold Reset until the Power LED blinks amber. |
| Network mode | Use AP mode when an upstream gateway remains the router; otherwise double NAT can affect port forwarding and remote access. |

Check the model number, hardware revision and role of the device. A router and satellite from the same brand can use different firmware files and reset indicators. General advice is useful for diagnosis, but destructive steps must follow the product documentation.
